9 ENGLISH8. When transporting or storing the grass shear,always use the blade cover. Proper handling ofthe grass shear will decrease the risk of personalinjury from the blades.Additional Safety InstructionsGeneral instructions1. To ensure correct operation, user has to readthis instruction manual to make himself famil-iar with the handling of the equipment. Usersinsufficiently informed will risk danger to them-selves as well as others due to improper handling.2. Never allow children, persons with reducedphysical, sensory or mental capabilities orlack of experience and knowledge or peopleunfamiliar with these instructions to use themachine, local regulations may restrict the ageof the operator.3. Use the equipment with the utmost care andattention.4. Operate the equipment only if you are in goodphysical condition. Perform all work calmlyand carefully. Use common sense and keep inmind that the operator or user is responsiblefor accidents or hazards occurring to otherpeople or their property.5. Never operate the machine while people, espe-cially children, or pets are nearby.6. The motor is to be switched off immediately incase that the equipment shows any problem orabnormal sign.7. Switch off and remove the battery cartridgewhen resting and when leaving the equipmentunattended, and place it in a safe location toprevent danger to others or damage to theequipment.8. Avoid using the machine in bad weatherconditions especially when there is a risk oflightning.Personal protective equipment1. Wear eye protection and stout shoes at alltimes while operating the machine.2. Always wear substantial footwear and longtrousers while operating the machine.Starting up the equipment1. Make sure that there are no children or otherpeople nearby, also pay attention to any ani-mals in the working vicinity. Otherwise stopusing the equipment.2. During operation, keep bystanders or animalsat least 15 m away from the tool. Stop the toolas soon as someone approaches.3. Before use always check that the equipmentis safe for operation. Check the security of thecutting tool and the guard and the switch trig-ger/lever for easy and proper action. Check forclean and dry handles and test the function ofthe start/stop.4. Check damaged parts before further use ofthe equipment. A guard or other part that isdamaged should be carefully checked to deter-mine that it will operate properly and performits intended function. Check for alignment ofmoving parts, binding of moving parts, break-age of parts, mounting, and any other condi-tion that may affect its operation. A guard orother part that is damaged should be properlyrepaired or replaced by our authorized ser-vice center unless indicated elsewhere in thismanual.5. Switch on the motor only when the hands andfeet are away from the cutting tool.6. Before starting make sure that the cutting toolhas no contact with any objects.7. Hold the tool firmly when using the tool.8. Avoid unintentional starting. Do not carry thetool when the battery cartridge is installedand with finger on the switch. Make sure thatthe switch is off when installing the batterycartridge.9. Before operation, examine the work area forwire fences, stones, or other solid objects.They can damage the blades.10. Check the hedges and bushes for foreignobjects, such as wire fences or hidden wiringbefore operating the tool.Method of operation1. Only use the equipment in good light andvisibility. During the winter season bewareof slippery or wet areas, ice and snow (riskof slipping). Always ensure a safe footing onslopes and be sure to walk and never run.2. Take care against injury to feet and hands fromthe cutting tool.3. Never stand on a ladder and run theequipment.4. Never climb up into trees to perform cuttingoperation with the equipment.5. Never work on unstable surfaces.6. Remove sand, stones, nails etc. found withinthe working range. Foreign particles may dam-age the cutting tool and can cause dangerouskick-backs.7. Should the cutting tool hit stones or other hardobjects, immediately switch off the motor andinspect the cutting tool.8. Inspect the cutting tool at short regular inter-vals for damage (detection of hairline cracksby means of tapping-noise test).9. Before commencing cutting, the cutting toolmust have reached full working speed.10. The cutting tool has to be equipped with theappropriate guard. Never run the equipmentwith damaged guards or without guards inplace!11. All protective installations and guards sup-plied with the equipment must be used duringoperation.12. Always remove the battery cartridge from theequipment:— whenever leaving the equipmentunattended; |
