4 ENGLISHService1. Have your power tool serviced by a qualifiedrepair person using only identical replacementparts. This will ensure that the safety of the powertool is maintained.2. Follow instruction for lubricating and chang-ing accessories. To reduce the risk of electric shock, this equipment hasa polarized plug (one blade is wider than the other). This plug will fit in a polarized outlet only one way. If theplug does not fit fully in the outlet, reverse the plug. If itstill does not fit, contact a qualified electrician to installthe proper outlet. Do not change the plug in any way.VOLTAGE WARNING: Before connecting the tool toa power source (receptacle, outlet, etc.) be sure thevoltage supplied is the same as that specified on thenameplate of the tool. A power source with voltagegreater than that specified for the tool can result inSERIOUS INJURY to the user- as well as damage tothe tool. If in doubt, DO NOT PLUG IN THE TOOL.Using a power source with voltage less than the name-plate rating is harmful to the motor.USE PROPER EXTENSION CORD. Make sure yourextension cord is in good condition. When using anextension cord, be sure to use one heavy enough tocarry the current your product will draw. An undersizedcord will cause a drop in line voltage resulting in loss ofpower and overheating. Table 1 shows the correct sizeto use depending on cord length and nameplate ampererating. If in doubt, use the next heavier gage. Thesmaller the gage number, the heavier the cord.Table 1: Minimum gage for cordAmpere Rating Volts Total length of cord in feet120V 25 ft. 50 ft. 100 ft. 150 ft.220V - 240V 50 ft. 100 ft. 200 ft. 300 ft.More Than Not More Than AWG0 A 6 A – 18 16 16 146 A 10 A 18 16 14 1210 A 12 A 16 16 14 1212 A 16 A 14 12 Not RecommendedSafety instructions for mitre saws1. Mitre saws are intended to cut wood or wood-like products, they cannot be used with abra-sive cut-off wheels for cutting ferrous materialsuch as bars, rods, studs, etc. Abrasive dustcauses moving parts such as the lower guard tojam. Sparks from abrasive cutting will burn thelower guard, the kerf insert and other plastic parts.2. Use clamps to support the workpiece wheneverpossible. If supporting the workpiece by hand, youmust always keep your hand at least 100 mm fromeither side of the saw blade. Do not use this saw tocut pieces that are too small to be securely clampedor held by hand. If your hand is placed too close tothe saw blade, there is an increased risk of injury fromblade contact.3. The workpiece must be stationary andclamped or held against both the fence and thetable. Do not feed the workpiece into the bladeor cut "freehand" in any way. Unrestrainedor moving workpieces could be thrown at highspeeds, causing injury.4. Push the saw through the workpiece. Do not pull thesaw through the workpiece. To make a cut, raise thesaw head and pull it out over the workpiece withoutcutting, start the motor, press the saw head downand push the saw through the workpiece. Cutting onthe pull stroke is likely to cause the saw blade to climbon top of the workpiece and violently throw the bladeassembly towards the operator.5. Never cross your hand over the intended lineof cutting either in front or behind the sawblade. Supporting the workpiece "cross handed"i.e. holding the workpiece to the right of the sawblade with your left hand or vice versa is verydangerous.6. Do not reach behind the fence with either handcloser than 100 mm from either side of the sawblade, to remove wood scraps, or for any otherreason while the blade is spinning. The proxim-ity of the spinning saw blade to your hand may notbe obvious and you may be seriously injured.7. Inspect your workpiece before cutting. If the work-piece is bowed or warped, clamp it with the outsidebowed face toward the fence. Always make certainthat there is no gap between the workpiece, fenceand table along the line of the cut. Bent or warpedworkpieces can twist or shift and may cause binding onthe spinning saw blade while cutting. There should beno nails or foreign objects in the workpiece.8. Do not use the saw until the table is clear of alltools, wood scraps, etc., except for the work-piece. Small debris or loose pieces of wood orother objects that contact the revolving blade canbe thrown with high speed.9. Cut only one workpiece at a time. Stacked multipleworkpieces cannot be adequately clamped or bracedand may bind on the blade or shift during cutting. |
