10Installing or removing saw bladeCAUTION:• Always be sure that the tool is switched off andunplugged before installing or removing the blade.• Use only the Makita socket wrench provided toinstall or remove the blade. Failure to do so mayresult in overtightening or insufficient tightening ofthe hex bolt. This could cause an injury.Lock the handle in the raised position by pushing in thestopper pin.To remove the blade, use the socket wrench to loosenthe hex bolt holding the center cover by turning it coun-terclockwise. Raise the blade guard and center cover.Press the shaft lock to lock the spindle and use thesocket wrench to loosen the hex bolt clockwise. Thenremove the hex bolt, outer flange and blade.To install the blade, mount it carefully onto the spindle,making sure that the direction of the arrow on the surfaceof the blade matches the direction of the arrow on theblade case.Install the outer flange and hex bolt, and then use thesocket wrench to tighten the hex bolt (left-handed)securely counterclockwise while pressing the shaft lock.CAUTION:• The black ring 25 mm in outer diameter and thesilver ring 25.4 mm in outer diameter are factory-installed as shown in the figure. When using ablade with 25 mm hole diameter, replace the silverring with the black ring. Before mounting the bladeonto the spindle, always be sure that the correctring for the arbor hole of the blade you intend to useis installed between the inner and outer flanges.Return the blade guard and center cover to its originalposition. Then tighten the hex bolt clockwise to securethe center cover. Release the handle from the raisedposition by pulling the stopper pin. Lower the handle tomake sure that the blade guard moves properly.
