Section 4 MaintenancePart Number 000001196 3/08 4-13Removal from Service/WinterizationGENERALSpecial precautions must be taken if the ice machinehead section is to be removed from service for anextended period of time or exposed to ambienttemperatures of 32°F (0°C) or below.Follow the applicable procedure below.Self-Contained Air-Cooled Ice Machines1. Disconnect the electrical power at the circuit breakeror the electric service switch.2. Turn off the water supply.3. Disconnect and drain the incoming ice-making waterline at the rear of the ice machine.4. Disconnect drain tubing (from the inlet to dumpvalve) and drain water into container and discard.5. Make sure water is not trapped in any of the waterlines, drain lines, distribution tubes, etc.Remote Air-Cooled Ice Machines1. Move the ICE/OFF/CLEAN switch to OFF.2. “Frontseat” (shut off) the receiver service valves.Hang a tag on the switch as a reminder to open thevalves before restarting.3. Perform steps 1-5 under “Self-Contained Air-CooledIce Machines.”Self-Contained Water-Cooled Ice Machines1. Perform steps 1-5 under “Self-Contained Air-CooledIce Machines.”2. Disconnect the incoming water and drain lines fromthe water-cooled condenser.3. Insert a large screwdriver between the bottom springcoils of the water regulating valve. Pry upward toopen the valve.Pry Open the Water Regulating Valve4. Hold the valve open and blow compressed airthrough the condenser until no water remains.! CautionIf water is allowed to remain in the ice machine infreezing temperatures, severe damage to somecomponents could result. Damage of this nature isnot covered by the warranty.SV1624
