Never use a start spray or anyother equivalent product Theseproducts are highly flammable.CAUTION Always preheat the engine.Never race the engine while it iscold. Do not crank the engine conti-nuously for more than 10 se-conds at a time. Let it cool downfor 2 minutes between crankingattempts. Failure to follow theseguidelines may result in startermotor burnout. If the engine don’t start after3 attempts, remove the key anddrain the water in the waterlock.Failure to do so may lead to wa-ter ingress in the cylinders.NOTICE: When starting the enginefor the first time, let it run at idlefor several minutes and check forleaks or malfunction.Starting using boosterbatteriesCAUTIONMake sure to use batteries withthe same rated voltage as theengine’s system voltage.1. Connect the jumper cable to thepositive pole (+) of the flat battery,then to the positive pole (+) of thebooster battery.2. Connect the jumper cable to thenegative pole (-) of the boosterbattery. Then connect the otherend of the cable to a bolt on theclutch of the engine block.DANGEROn an engine with a two poleelectrical system, connect theother end of the jumper cableto the negative pole (-) of thebooster battery.3. Start the engine following thestarting procedure.4. Let the engine run at idle forfew minutes to charge the battery.5. Stop the engine and removethe cables in the exact reverseorder from installation.24
