Electrical systemI DANGERStop the engine and switch offthe main switches to break thecurrent before working on theelectrical system. Isolate shorecurrent to any accessoriesmounted on the engine.I CAUTIONThe main switch should alwaysbe switched ON when the engineis operating. Never disconnectthe lead between the alternatorand the battery when the engineis operating.Wires and connectorsCheck that electrical wires and con-nectors are dry and in good condi-tions.The engine extension harnessshould be away from any waterprojection and must be correctlyattached as high as possible in thehold. Change it if any defect ap-pears.Tighten the cable terminals andlubricate them with appropriategrease.FusesThe engine electrical system isprotected from electrical overloaddamage by fuses.If the electrical system does notwork, the engine does not start orthe instruments panel don’t oper-ate, a fuse may have trip.Investigate the cause before reset-ting the fuse. Always have sparefuses on board. Replace a blownfuse with one of the same rating.I CAUTIONIf the replacement fuse blows,this indicates an electricalproblem. Don’t start the engine,except in case of emergency,and contact a Nanni workshop.Boats with metallichullsEngines in metallic hulls are gener-ally fitted with a two-pole electri-cal system.
