12First StepsFirst StepsInserting the BatteryInsert a Rechargeable Li-ion Battery EN-EL19 (supplied) into the camera.• Charge the battery before the first use or when the battery is running low(A 14).1 Open the battery-chamber/memory card slotcover.2 Insert the battery.Confirm that the battery’s positive (+)and negative (–) terminals are orientedcorrectly as shown on the label at thebattery chamber opening, and insertthe battery.Use the battery to push the orangebattery latch up (1) as the battery isinserted (2).When the battery is fully inserted, thebattery latch will lock it in place.B Inserting the BatteryInserting the battery upside down or backwards could damage the camera.
