Some sample histograms areshown below:If the image contains objectswith a wide range ofbrightnesses, the distribution oftones will be relatively even.If the image is dark, tonedistribution will be shifted to theleft.If the image is bright, tonedistribution will be shifted to theright.Increasing exposure compensation shifts the distribution of tones tothe right, while decreasing exposure compensation shifts thedistribution to the left. Histograms can provide a rough idea of overallexposure when bright ambient lighting makes it difficult to seephotographs in the monitor.
