SC6500|Removal and InstallationWarning! Before removing or reinstalling any machine components, make sure the key switchis off and the key is removed from the machine.To Install the BatteriesWarning!• Use extreme caution when working with batteries. Sulfuric acid in batteries can cause severeinjury if allowed to contact the skin or eyes.• Explosive hydrogen gas is vented from the batteries through openings in the battery caps.This gas can be ignited by any spark, flame or electrical arc. Do not install any lead-acidbattery in a sealed container or enclosure. Hydrogen gas from overcharging must be allowedto escape.Caution!• Electrical components in this machine can be severely damaged if the batteries are notinstalled and connected correctly.• The batteries must be installed only by an Advance representative or dealer, a qualifiedelectrician or the battery manufacturer.1. Remove the batteries from their shipping crate and carefully inspect them for cracks or other damage. Ifdamage is evident, contact the carrier that delivered them, or the battery manufacturer, to file a damageclaim.2. Turn the key switch off and remove the key.3. Remove the recovery tank from the machine. (Refer to the Recovery System/Removal and Installation/Recovery Tank section.)4. Your machine comes from the factorywith enough battery cables to installsix 6-volt batteries. Using at leasttwo people and an appropriate liftingstrap, carefully lift the batteries intothe battery compartment and arrangethem exactly as shown. Secure thebatteries as close to the front of themachine as possible. If installing amonoblock battery, use an overheadhoist.5. Install the battery cables as shown.Position the cables so the battery capscan be removed easily for batteryservice.BatteryDisconnect
