286. Emergency calls1 If the phone is not on, switch it on. Some networks mayrequire that a valid SIM card is properly inserted in thephone.2 Press and hold the key for several seconds toready the phone for calls. If any characters remain onthe screen, press and hold again.3 Key in the emergency number for your present location(e.g. 911 or other official emergency number). Emergencynumbers vary by location.4 Press Call.IMPORTANT!This phone, like any wireless phone, operates using radio signals,wireless and landline networks as well as user-programmedfunctions which cannot guarantee connection in all conditions.Therefore you should never rely solely upon any wirelessphone for essential communications (e.g. medical emergencies).Remember, to make or receive any calls the phone must beswitched on and in a service area with adequate signalstrength. Emergency calls may not be possible on all wirelessphone networks or when certain network services and/orphone features are in use. Check with local service providers.If certain features are in use (Keyguard, fixed dialing, etc.),you may first need to turn those features off before you canmake an emergency call.
