MessagingYou can read, write, send and save text and multimediamessages, e-mail, audio and flash messages. Themessaging services can only be used if they aresupported by your network or service provider.Text and multimedia messagesYou can create a message and optionally attach, forexample, a picture. Your phone automatically changesa text message to a multimedia message when a file isattached.Text messagesYour device supports text messages beyond the limitfor a single message. Longer messages are sent as twoor more messages. Your service provider may chargeaccordingly. Characters with accents or other marks,and characters from some language options, take upmore space, and limit the number of characters thatcan be sent in a single message.An indicator at the top of the display shows the totalnumber of characters left and the number of messagesneeded for sending.Before you can send messages, you must save yourmessage centre number. Select Menu > Messaging >Message settings > Text messages > Messagecentres > Add centre, enter a name, and the numberfrom the service provider.Multimedia messagesA multimedia message can contain text, pictures, andsound or video clips.Only devices that have compatible features can receiveand display multimedia messages. The appearance ofa message may vary depending on the receiving device.The wireless network may limit the size of MMSmessages. If the inserted picture exceeds this limit thedevice may make it smaller so that it can be sent byMMS.Important: Exercise caution when openingmessages. Messages may contain malicious softwareor otherwise be harmful to your device or PC.For availability and subscription to the multimediamessaging service (MMS), contact your serviceprovider. You may also download the configurationsettings. See "Nokia support", p. 9.Create a text or multimedia message1. Select Menu > Messaging > Create message >Message.2. To add recipients, scroll to the To: field, and enterthe recipient’s number or e-mail address, or selectAdd to select recipients from the available options.Select Options to add recipients and subjects andto set sending options.20 Messaging
