Chapter 7 - Internet 7-9When you press Send in the E-mail envelope, thee-mail message will go to the Document outbox,but will not be sent immediately (see Chapter 12”Document outbox” on page 12-1).To send Upon request:¿ In the E-mail main view, scroll down to theDocument outbox and press Open.¡ Press Start to send your e-mail. All e-mailwith the Upon request status will be sentwith one command (and one data call).Receiving e-mailYour incoming e-mail is received by the remotemailbox (Figure 7-4). If your Remote mailboxserver is capable of sending you special shortmessages, you will hear a tone (unless the sys-tem is set to silent service mode) and see a notewhen new e-mail arrives in your remote mailbox.In the remote mailbox, unread messages aremarked with , messages with attachmentswith and deleted messages with .The E-mail and Internet access point settingsmust be configured correctly (see ”Internet set-tings” on page 7-3).To connect to the Remote mailbox:¿ Go to the E-mail main view.¡ Scroll the selection frame to the Remotemailbox.¬ Press Connect.The communicator will establish a connection toyour remote mailbox and download the mailheaders you specified in the E-mail settings(Retrieve all is the default). The mail headerscontain information about the incoming e-mail,such as the sender’s name and e-mail address,the time it was sent and subject of the mail.Once you have connected to the remote mailbox,you can retrieve and delete e-mail. If the Deleteretrieved setting is set to Yes, (see ”E-mail set-tings” on page 7-5), retrieved messages aremarked as deleted. These messages will be re-tained in the Received mail folder, and marked asdeleted in the Remote mailbox.To download new e-mail:Press Retrieve new. All new e-mail is downloadedto the Received mail folder. After all new e-mailis downloaded, the connection to the remotemailbox is closed the E-mail main view returns.To download a selected message:Select the mail message(s) you wish to downloadand press Retrieve selected. After mail has beendownloaded, the Remote mailbox view returns.To delete/undelete an e-mail message:Select a message and press Delete or Undelete.The messages will be deleted when you exit theremote mailbox.To disconnect from the remote mailbox:Press Hang up. If you have messages marked asdeleted, you will be prompted to confirm the de-letion. The connection to remote mailbox closes,and the E-mail application main view returns tothe display.Reading e-mailDownloaded e-mail is stored in the Receivedmail folder.To read your e-mail:¿ Go to the E-mail main view and scroll downto Received mail and press Open.The Received mail view shows a list of receivedmail messages. E-mail messages that have notyet been opened in the communicator aremarked with .Ç Highlight the e-mail you want to read andpress Open. The command buttons availablewhen reading e-mail are shown in Figure7-5, and are explained in ”Sending e-mail” onpage 7-6.
