Park the vehicle before using thecommunicator.• Always secure the communicator in itsholder, and ensure that the locking mech-anism on top of the holder is properlyengaged; do not place the communicator onthe passenger seat or where it can break loosein a collision or sudden stop.• The use of an alert device to operate avehicle’s lights or horn on public roads is notpermitted.• Remember, road safety always comes first!Operating environment• Remember to follow any special regulations inforce in any area, and always switch off yourcommunicator’s phone interface whenever it isforbidden to use a mobile phone, or when itmay cause interference or danger.• Operation of any radio transmittingequipment, including the Nokia 9000iCommunicator, may interfere with the func-tionality of inadequately protected medicaldevices. Consult a physician or the manufac-turer of the medical device if you have anyquestions. Other electronic equipment mayalso be subject to interference.• As with other mobile radio transmittingequipment, users are advised that for thesatisfactory operation of the equipment andfor the safety of personnel, it is recommendedthat the equipment should only be used in thenormal operating position.• Users are advised to switch off the phoneinterface when at a refuelling point (servicestation). Users are reminded of the need toobserve restrictions on the use of radioequipment in fuel depots (fuel storage anddistribution areas), chemical plants or whereblasting operations are in progress.• Do not store or carry flammable liquids, gasesor explosive materials in the samecompartment as the communicator, its partsor accessories.• Only qualified personnel should install orservice the communicator in a vehicle. Faultyinstallation or service may be dangerous andmay invalidate any warranty which may applyto the unit.• Electronic fuel injection systems, electronicanti-skid braking systems, electronic cruisecontrol systems and other electronic systemscan malfunction due to the lack of protectionfrom radio signals. Check regularly that allmobile phone equipment in your vehicle ismounted and operating properly.• Remember to make backup copies of allimportant data to protect against its possibleloss or alteration.• When connecting the communicator to a PCor printer, please refer to the User’s Guides ofthose devices for detailed safety instructions.• The infrared beam of the communicator mayinterfere with the functioning of otherinfrared devices that are not IrDA certified. Donot point the infrared beam at anyone’s eye.
