Read-only documents them-selves cannot be edited, but an editable copy canbe created:1 Open a read-only document – the contentsare shown as plain text.2 In the opened read-only document, press anycharacter key. You will be asked if you wantto create an editable copy.3 Press Create to close the original file andcopy its contents to a new, created text file.The DOS file will be deleted after an editablecopy has been created.4 Edit the new created note normally.Received faxes anddownloaded figuresThe contents of a received fax cannot be con-verted into text or edited. Opening a fax acti-vates the fax viewer (see chapter 5 "Fax:Received faxes" on page 5-3) and opening an im-age activates the image viewer (see chapter 7"Internet: Navigating in WWW" on page 7-14).SendingWhen you send a document in the Notes appli-cation, you can choose whether to send the doc-ument as a fax, mail or short message.Pressing the Print/Send command button inNotes opens a pop-up box listing printing anddifferent sending options. Select the option youwant and press Select:• To print the file, select Print. The printcommands view opens. Printing will bedescribed in more detail in the following"Printing" section.• To send as a fax, select Send as fax. The faxdirectory opens. The sending procedure fromthis point on is similar to that described inchapter 5 "Fax: Sending faxes - Fax directory"on page 5-2.• To send as a short message, select Send asshort message. The sending procedure issimilar to that described in chapter 6 "Shortmessages: Sending messages" on page 6-2.• To send as mail, select Send as mail. The sendingprocedure is similar to that described in chapter7 "Internet: Sending mail" on page 7-6.PrintingDocuments can be directly printed in Notes only.Printing is possible only to a printer that has anIrDA compatible infrared port. To print to otherprinters, transfer the file to a PC, as described inchapter 10 "System: File transfer" on page 10-6.Please refer to the User’s Guide of the printer fordetailed safety instructions on the device.To establish an infrared serial connection:Make sure that the communicator’s infraredport faces the infrared port of the printer.Keep the infrared connection clear. In theevent the infrared connection is obstructedfor too long (for example, something is movedbetween the infrared sensors or the commu-nicator is moved), printing is interrupted.
