134 Chapter 11 Filter configurationN0115789Applying a FilterThis section shows you where to apply the filters after you design them. TheBusiness Secure Router already has filters to prevent NetBIOS traffic fromtriggering calls, and block incoming Telnet, FTP and HTTP connections.Applying LAN FiltersLAN traffic filter sets are useful to block certain packets, reduce traffic andprevent security breaches. Go to menu 3.1 (shown next) and enter the numbers ofthe filter sets that you want to apply, as appropriate. You can choose up to fourfilter sets (from twelve) by entering their numbers separated by commas, forexample., 3, 4, 6, 11. Input filter sets filter incoming traffic to the Business SecureRouter and output filter sets filter outgoing traffic from the Business SecureRouter. For PPPoE or PPTP encapsulation, you have the additional option ofspecifying remote node call filter sets.Figure 65 Filtering LAN TrafficNote: Nortel recommends that you apply filters if you do not activatethe firewall.Menu 3.1 – LAN Port Filter SetupInput Filter Sets:protocol filters=device filters=Output Filter Sets:protocol filters=device filters=Ethernet Interface= 10BaseTInput Filter Sets=Output Filter Sets=Press ENTER to Confirm or ESC to Cancel:
