This allows anorganization with several groups to switch from one group to another by changingto the SSID of the new group. Users can also select a group from a stored list,without having to modify configuration files.Red There is a very poor or no link between the laptop computer and the accesspoint. The connection quality could be poor because the laptop computer isclose to the edge of the coverage area, because of obstacles, or radiointerference, or because there is an excessive amount of data trafficthrough the access point. If the window always displays red, add anotheraccess point.Cyan(light blue)The laptop computer is configured to operate in ad hoc mode and anotherlaptop computer is detected within the range. The window displays amessage stating that the device on the ad hoc network is within the range.The SSID string is also displayed.Note: Consider the following issues before you use this utility:• If a new SSID is located on a different Ethernet segment from the currentaccess point, you may not be able to log on to the new LAN segment.• For a TCP/IP connection, you may need to set a new IP address if you areusing static IP addresses or release and renew the connection withWINIPCFG.exe if you are using DHCP.• When you change the SSID, you cannot select a particular access point.Note: The settings are temporary.
