Meridian Mail Reporter 2.0 User’s Guide4 - 36BackupOn a regular basis, you should back up the MMR system and OM databases. SinceMMR does not offer a backup feature, use an off-the-shelf backup program such asNorton Backup for Windows to save data onto disks, tapes, or other drives.Note: If you use a scheduled backup, please make sure that the backup scheduledoes not overlap with any MMR activity such as a download or report generation.Tips for Backing up MMR• Please follow the instructions for the corresponding backup program.• Terminate any MMR program which is running.• Include the following files and directories in the backup: REPORTER\MMR.INI,REPORTER\DATABASE\MMR_SYS.MDB, and all subdirectories (andcontents) under \REPORTER\DATABASE.Tips for Restoring MMR• Please follow the instructions for the corresponding backup program.• Terminate any MMR program which is running.• If you restore a database from MMR Release 1.0 or 1.01, you must convert thedatabase to Release 2.0 by using MMR Upgrade. For more information, see thefollowing “MMR Upgrade” section.• After restoring the files, start MMR Reports and manually update the downloadschedule. Most likely, the backup contains an earlier image of the systemdatabase, and the Next Download Date and Next Download Time are in the past.If you do not update the download schedule, MMR Communications willgenerate one error for each site which misses a download.Other Functions of MMR ReportsYou can use MMR Reports for maintenance such as importing downloaded files, setting an after-hours interval, and viewing the database date range.
