66 APPENDIX BCompliance and Standards FCC ConformanceSR1001 Installation GuideVersion 8.3.5FCC Conformance This section provides information about Nortel product conformance with FCC rules.FCC Part 15 Nortel products comply with FCC Part 15 (also known as CFR42, Chapter 2, Part 15) of theFederal Communications Commission (FCC) rules concerning radio frequency emissions forClass A computing devices. The following section is required by the FCC.CAUTION: In accordance with FCC Part 15, Section 15.21, changes or modifications made by the buyerthat are not expressly approved by Nortel, could void the buyer’s authority to operate this equipment.This equipment has been tested and found to comply with the limits for a Class A digitaldevice, pursuant to Part 15 of the FCC rules. These limits are designed to provide reasonableprotection against harmful interference when the equipment is operated in a commercialenvironment. This equipment generates, uses, and can radiate radio frequency energy and, ifnot installed and used in accordance with the instruction manual, may cause harmfulinterference to radio communications. Operation of this equipment in a residential area islikely to cause harmful interference, in which case the user will be required to correct theinterference at his own expense.You can determine whether your equipment is causing interference by turning it off. If theinterference stops, it was probably caused by the Nortel equipment.
