11-27 PostScript printer driver for Windows and Mac OSC9800 Color Guide - 27PostScript printer driver for Windows and Mac OSTo access the printer driver options described in this section, chooseStart > Settings > Printers (Windows 98/Me/NT/2000) or Printers and Faxes (WindowsXP/Server 2003), right-click the appropriate printer (PPD) name, and chooseProperties (Windows 98/Me), Document Defaults (Windows NT), or PrintingPreferences (Windows 2000/XP/Server 2003) from the pop-up menu. To access theMac OS driver options, choose Print from the File menu of your application. Thesesettings are also accessible from the Print Setup or Page Setup dialog boxes of mostapplications.For Windows computers, the Fiery driver interface allows you to save combinations ofsettings for later access. Additionally, you can choose different settings for individualjobs from the applications you use.The printer driver writes a PostScript file containing the instructions generated by yourapplication and the Fiery print options you chose. The printer driver sends thePostScript file to the Fiery. The Fiery then performs PostScript processing and colorconversions and sends raster color data to the print engine.N OTE : The following illustrations and instructions do not apply to all applications.Many applications, such as Adobe PageMaker, Adobe Photoshop, Adobe Illustrator,QuarkXPress, and CorelDRAW, have other color management options in addition tothose presented in the printer driver. This driver is a PostScript 3 printer driver that takes fulladvantage of the color features of the Fiery. Before you proceed, complete thefollowing procedures:• Install the Adobe PostScript Printer Driver and the Fiery PPD (see theUser Software Installation Guide Chapter 1).• Set up the Fiery for printing (see the Configuration Guide).• Install the ICC output profile for the Fiery on your Windows computer (see theUser Software Installation Guide Chapter 1).
