Omnia-6ex Use and Operation Manual – V: 1.2085Thunder BassOmnia-6EX has the power to shake the walls with low end! If your source material has it, Omnia-6 will put it on theair, and with muscle! Making changes to this characteristic is done using the following parameters, and formaximum effectiveness, in the order listed:1. In the Enhance Menu, increase the amount of Deep Bass or Phat Bass boost.2. If Phat Bass has been increased, then increase the setting of Phat Bass Tune. This will help create a deepBass register.3. Increase the drives to the LF Limiters with the appropriate Drive controls in the Limiter XO screen.4. Speed up the Release times of the LF Limiter sections. Also, try increasing Release time in SLF-Band ofAGC section.5. In the Clipper sub-menu, set Clipper Style to Girth. When it comes to processing, moderation is the key! If all of the above steps are utilized in the pursuit of more bass, then severe low frequency over-enhancement can occur. Excessive bass boost can produce the illusion that thepresence and high frequencies have been lost. They are still there, but are being acoustically masked by the lowerfrequencies.Another concern is the creation of bass-induced intermodulation distortion in the clipper. This artifact might benoticed on midrange/presence frequencies whenever a sustained bass note is present. An example of this would be astrong bass signal “underneath” a sustained vocal passage. The vocal passage will begin to sound as if it “warbles” alittle bit. This is a sign that the over-processed bass energy is pushing the vocal frequencies in and out of the clipperunnecessarily. If this is happening, lower the Bass Clipper Thresh and set Clipper Style to Girth.Generally, an increase in the Enhance Menu's Bass boost functions alone will provide more than sufficientenhancement to the low end.
