84Operating precautionsWhen using the unit in rainy or snowy weather,at the beach or other locations, take care toprotect it from precipitation and sea water.• Otherwise, trouble may occur in the unit andits cards. (It may not be possible to restore theoriginal functions.)Keep the unit away from appliances (suchas TV sets and TV game machines) whichgenerate magnetic fields.• When the unit is used on top of or near a TV set,the images and sound may be distorted by theelectromagnetic waves emanating from the TVset.• Strong magnetic fields generated by speakersor large motors may damage the recordings ordistort the images.• The electromagnetic waves emanating frommicrocomputers may adversely affect the unitand distort the images and sound.• If the unit is adversely affected by an appliancethat generates magnetic fields and fails tooperate properly as a result, turn off its power,and either remove its battery or unplug the ACadapter from the power outlet. Then install thebattery again or re-connect the AC adapter. Afterdoing this, turn the unit’s power back on.Do not use the unit near a radio transmitter orhigh-voltage appliance.• Doing so may adversely affect the recordedimages and sound.When using the unit at the beach or similarlocations, take care to protect it from sand anddust.• Sand and dust may damage the unit and itscards. (Take particular care when inserting orejecting the cards.)AC adapter and battery• When the battery temperature is extremely highor extremely low or when the battery has notbeen used for a prolonged period and been leftdischarged, the [CHARGE] lamp will blink severaltimes, and charging will start automatically.• If the [CHARGE] lamp continues blinking evenwhen the battery temperature is normal, this maybe a sign of trouble in the battery or AC adapter.Consult with your dealer.• When the battery is warm, it will take longer thanusual to recharge it.• When the AC adapter is used near a radio, thesound from the radio may be distorted. Use theAC adapter and radio at a distance of at least 1meter from each other.• Noise is output while the AC adapter is beingused, but this is not a sign of trouble.When carrying the unit around, take care notto drop it.• Strong impacts may damage the unit’s body,preventing it from operating properly.Do not expose the unit to insecticides orvolatile sprays or liquids.• These substances may deform the unit’s body orcause its paint to peel off.• Do not bring the unit into contact with productsmade of rubber or vinyl for prolonged periods oftime.
