By understanding how these components work, you can easily configure a system that meetsyour specific needs.This section is divided into the following categories:CabinetThe DBS 576HD cabinet is explained in detail throughout this chapter. The cabinet can attach toany of the proprietary DBS 43-Series and 44-Series telephone sets offered by Panasonic. It alsoincludes its own power supply, and is designed with a dedicated slot for a CPC card, and freeslots for trunk, extension, and option cards.Common CardsThe common cards control the signaling and features used by all other cards in the system.Without common cards, other cards cannot function. The common card which is considered the“brains of the system” is called the Central Processor Card, or CPC. Each phone system musthave a processor to operate.Telephone Company Interface EquipmentPanasonic offers a wide variety of interface circuits that allow the DBS 576HD to attach toCentral Office (CO) and/or common carrier equipment. This interface equipment is explained inthis chapter.Station Interface EquipmentThe DBS 576HD allows for connection of Panasonic DBS 43-Series and 44-Series proprietarytelephones as well as various analog telephones and devices provided by other manufacturers.This chapter includes descriptions of the cards and equipment needed to accomplish theseconnections.Optional and Miscellaneous EquipmentThe cards and interfaces that provide optional services, and all miscellaneous equipment, areexplained later in this chapter.Station EquipmentAll Panasonic proprietary stations are explained later in this chapter.System Hardware ConnectionsShown on the next page is an illustration of DBS 576HD trunk and extension line connections, aswell as some of the more popular peripheral connections.Chapter 2 - System Hardware
