28RQT8860Timer recordingSee also “Important notes for recording” (➡ 8).Depending on the type of disc used for recording or the type ofbroadcast, there may be restrictions on the title you are trying to record.[HDD] [RAM] [-R] [-RW‹V›] [+R] [+RW]≥You can enter up to 32 programmes up to a month in advance.(Each daily or weekly programme is counted as one programme.)[RAM] [-RW‹V›] [+R] [+R]DL] [+RW]≥To use a new disc, formatting is necessary.Preparation≥Turn on the television and select the appropriate video input to suitthe connections to this unit.≥If recording to DVD, insert a disc that you can use for recording(➡ 24).≥Make sure that the clock settings are correct (➡ 73).The TV Guide system provides programme information from thedigital broadcasts station displayed on the television like a TVprogramme magazine. Setting up to record a broadcast is easy too.Simply select the desired programme from the displayed list. Youcan also search for desired programmes by displaying only theprogrammes in a certain category.[Note]≥If the unit is disconnected from the AC mains, all programme dataare lost.≥The programme list is available immediately if this unit has found adigital station and loaded the information in the memory. Thisprocess can take a while depending on the particular station.≥The programme list data are continuously downloaded in thebackground when the unit is turned on. That means that theprogramme list can sometimes change while you are looking at it.≥Analogue broadcasts can be recorded manually or with theSHOW VIEW system (➡ 30).≥Programme information about analogue broadcasts is notdisplayed in the TV Guide system and “No information available foranalogue services” is displayed.1 Press [GUIDE].2 Press [3, 4, 2, 1] to select theprogramme.3 Press [OK].≥Confirm the programme (start and end time) by using a TVmagazine, etc. and make corrections if necessary using[3, 4, 2, 1] (➡ 30, right column, step 3).4 Press [OK].The timer programme is stored and the timer icon isdisplayed.“F” lights on the unit’s display to indicate timer recordingstandby has been activated.Repeat steps 2–4 to programme other recordings.Press [Í DVD] to turn the unit off.[Note]If “NTSC” has been selected for “TV System” (➡ 72), the TV Guidesystem cannot be used.∫ To cancel a timer recording on the TV Guidescreen1 Press [3, 4, 2, 1] to select the programme in the TV Guideand press [OK].(Confirmation screen appears.)2 Press [2] to select “Yes” and press [OK]. (“F” in the TV Guidedisappears.)∫ When the unit displays “No informationavailable for analogue services” or the empty TVGuide list≥Some digital broadcast may not send programme information.Set the timer recording manually or with the SHOW VIEW system(➡ 30).[Note]≥The receipt of the TV Guide system data is only possible via theaerial input of this unit.
