33RQT8860Recording broadcasts from external equipment[HDD] [RAM] [-R] [-RW‹V›] [+R] [+RW]To make a timer recording with your television, connect to atelevision with a Q Link function (➡ 18) that you can use for settingtimer recordings using a fully wired 21-pin Scart cable (➡ 14).1 Make timer programming on the TV.2 Press [DRIVE SELECT] to select theHDD or DVD drive.If you selected the DVD drive, insert a disc (➡ 24).3 Turn off this unit.The start and end of recording is controlled by the TV.To stop recordingPress [∫].[Note]≥Programmes are recorded as one title on this unit when the endtime of the earlier timer recording and the start time of the latertimer recording are close to each other.[HDD] [RAM] To divide the titles, go to “Divide Title” (➡ 45).§ Information about the Decoder is for France, Italy and Spain only.Preparation≥Connect a digital satellite receiver or analogue decoder§ to thisunit’s input terminals (➡ 15).≥When the output signal from the external equipment is NTSC,change the “TV System” to “NTSC” in the Setup menu (➡ 72).This unit cannot record NTSC signals to discs that already havePAL signal recordings. (However, both types of programmes canbe recorded onto the HDD.)≥Press [DRIVE SELECT] to select the HDD or DVD drive.1 While stoppedPress [INPUT SELECT] to select theinput channel for the equipment youhave connected.e.g.,If you have connected to AV2 input terminals, select “A2”.2 Press [REC MODE] to select therecording mode.3 Select the channel on the otherequipment.4 Press [¥ REC].Recording starts.To skip unwanted partsPress [;] to pause recording. (Press again to restart recording.)To stop recordingPress [∫].To record programmes from digital satellite receiver using timerprogrammingPreparation≥Make sure you connect the AV2 input terminal of this unit to theScart terminal of a VCR or a digital satellite receiver with a 21-pinScart cable (➡ 15).≥Set “AV2 Input” to match the connected equipment in the Setupmenu (➡ 68).≥Set “Ext Link” to match the connected equipment in the Setupmenu (➡ 68).1 Make timer programming on theexternal equipment.2 Press [DRIVE SELECT] to select theHDD or DVD drive.If you selected the DVD drive, insert a disc (➡ 24).3 Press [EXT LINK].The unit turns off and “EXT-L” lights on the unit’s display toindicate timer recording standby has been activated.To cancel the external controlPress [EXT LINK] to stop recording or to cancel linked timerrecording standby.≥In order to prevent accidental operation, press [EXT LINK] tocancel the setting after recording is finished.[Note]≥This function does not work with some equipment. Refer to theequipment’s operating instructions.≥The beginnings of recordings may not be recorded correctly insome cases.≥When “Ext Link” is set to “Ext Link 2”, this function does not work ifthe input signal is NTSC system.≥Programmes are recorded as one title on this unit when the endtime of the earlier timer recording and the start time of the latertimer recording are close to each other.[HDD] [RAM] To divide the titles, go to “Divide Title” (➡ 45).≥When this unit is in EXT LINK standby (“EXT-L” is shown on theunit’s display), the TV Guide data cannot be downloaded.≥While the unit is in EXT LINK standby mode or recording, videopicture is from the AV2 input terminal irrespective of “AV1 Output”setting (➡ 67).≥During EXT LINK standby mode or recording, playback is onlyavailable from the drive performing the recording.≥When “EXT-L” lights on the unit’s display, Direct TV Recording isunavailable.≥While the unit is in EXT LINK standby mode or recording, mostoperations on this unit are prohibited ([< OPEN/CLOSE], [Í/I]etc.).
