129MaintenanceThe water vapor in the air may form as tiny dropletson the head drum when the unit is moved from a coldlocation to a warm location or used in a very humidplace. This phenomenon is known as condensation,and running the tape under these conditions is liableto cause the tape to stick to the drum.Note the following points:O Remove the tape when the unit’s operation is to bestarted in conditions where condensation may form.O Before loading the tape, set the power switch toON, and check that the HUMID display is notlighted in the display window.For safety reasons, the HUMID display will flash andthe drum will rotate for 80 minutes after condensationdetection is released.During this time, the operation buttons cannot beoperated.Check that the HUMID displayis not lighted.CondensationUse the AJ-CL12LP cleaning cassette if the headsneed to be cleaned. Take care to read theinstructions accompanying the cleaning tape since thevideo heads may be damaged if the tape is not usedin the correct way.Head cleaningO Do not use thinners or any other solvent to removedirt.O Use a lens cleaner available on the market to wipethe lens.O NEVER wipe the mirror.If dirt or dust has found its way onto the mirror,remove it using an air blower available on themarket.Cleaning inside the viewfinderSmearThis phenomenon may occur when very brightsubjects are shot.The faster the electronic shutter speed, the more likelythat it will occur.White blemishThis phenomenon is caused by small white spotswhen dark places are shot. The lower the frame rateor the higher the gain, the more noticeable itbecomes.Phenomena inherent to CCDcamerasReplacing the backup batteryThe backup battery is already installed when the unitis shipped.When it has discharged, the “BACK UP BATTEMPTY” display appears for 3 seconds on theviewfinder screen when the POWER switch is set toON.Moreover, the time code value of the TCG will be setto “00:00:00:00” and the backup of the time codevalue will no longer be possible: this means that thebackup battery should be replaced.Consult with your nearest service center, and replacethe spent battery with a new battery (CR2032 orBR2032).Backup batteryCAUTION:These servicing instructions are for use by qualifiedservice personel only.
