Tape travel inspection1 Set the VTR SAVE/STBY switch to SAVE, andcheck that the VTR SAVE lamp inside theviewfinder lights.2 Set the VTR SAVE/STBY switch to STBY, andcheck that the VTR SAVE lamp goes off.3 Set the TCG switch to R-RUN.4 Set the DISPLAY switch to CTL.5 Press the unit’s VTR START button, and checkthat:O The tape reels rotate.O The figure shown on the counter displaychanges.O The REC lamp inside the viewfinder lights.O The RF and SERVO displays do not appear inthe display window.6 Press the unit’s VTR START button again. Checkthat the tape stops and the REC lamp inside theviewfinder goes off.7 Use the lens VTR button to check the sameoperations as in steps 5 and 6.8 Press the RESET button, and check that“00:00:00:00” appears on the counter display.9 Set the LIGHT switch to ON, and check that thedisplay window illuminates.10 Press the REW button, and after the tape hasbeen rewound for a few seconds, press thePLAY/PAUSE button.Check that the tape is recorded, played backand rewound properly.11 Press the FF button, and check that the tape isfast forwarded properly.2 Set the zoom to the manual zoom mode, andcheck its operations in this mode.Turn the manual zoom lever, and check that theimage changes when the zoom is set to thetelephoto and wide-angle positions.3 Set the aperture to the auto adjustment mode,point the lens at some objects with differentbrightness levels, and check that the auto apertureadjustment works.4 Set the aperture to the manual adjustment mode,turn the aperture ring, and check that the manualaperture is adjusted.5 While holding down the auto instantaneousaperture adjustment button, point the lens at someobjects with different brightness levels, and checkthat the auto instantaneous aperture adjustmentfunction works.6 Return the aperture to the auto adjustment mode,switch the GAIN switch setting to L, M and H, andcheck that:O The aperture is adjusted for objects of the samebrightness level in tandem with the switching ofthe gain setting.O The gain displayed on the viewfinder screen isswitched in tandem with the switching of thegain setting.7 When a lens with an extender has been installed,set the extender to the operating position, andcheck that it works properly.Perform all the steps outlined in section “1. Tapetravel inspection” through section “4. Earphone andspeaker inspection” one after the other.
