DSU Operations4-373610-A2-GB91-90 July 1999ResultsThe DSU displays the following when the local DSUtransmitter is enabled:F1DSU: EnableCommand CompleteF2 F3When the DSU transmitter is disabled, the following ispossible:• Disabled tributaries and the control respond to tests;aborting a test clears the test but the unit remainsdisabled.• A tributary or control in test clears the test when aDisable (or Enable) command is received.• If an Enable command is executed to a control fromthe NMS or local DCP, all disabled tributaries areenabled; all tributaries in test are restored to Datamode.LEDsThe LEDs selection is only available from the Localbranch. This selection allows you to monitor the port atany given time. When selected, the port’s lead activity isreflected in the DCP circuit designation status indicators(TXD, RXD, etc.) on the faceplate of the Model 3611DSU, or on the DCP of the Model 3610 DSU.External LeadsThe External Leads (ExtL) selection allows you todisplay the state of four general-purpose leads on theEIA-232-D/V.24 Port 1 interface: Pins 12 and 13 foroutput (control leads) and Pins 19 and 23 for input (alarmleads). If the configuration option External Leads (ExtLeads) is set to ExtLd, you can change the state of the twooutput leads from the DCP or a 6700 or 6800 Series NMS.If the DSU’s diagnostic protocol is ADp and the CCN byExternal Leads (CCN by EL) configuration option hasbeen enabled, a control DSU reports any changes to thefour leads to the 6700 or 6800 Series NMS as part of itshealth and status poll response. If you have a modular DSU, you can use Paradyne’sNMS adapter cable (3000-F2-510) to access Pins 12, 13,19, and 23 to make use of external leads. To access the External Leads selection from thetop-level menu, make the following selections:• Local (F1), or Remot (F2) and Address• Ctrl• ExtLThe following submenu displays after selecting ExtL:F1External Leads:Displ ChangF2 F3NOTEFor Chang to appear, the ExtLeads configuration option in theGen configuration submenu mustbe enabled.
