COMSPHERE 3600 Series Data Service Units1-24 July 1999 3610-A2-GB91-90Point-to-Point ConfigurationTo set up aggregate switching for a single-port,point-to-point configuration, enable the followingconfiguration options:• DSU Configuration Options (Table 6-5):– AggrSwitch (Aggregate Switch) must beenabled.– AgSw Timing (Aggregate Switch Timing) mustbe set to the appropriate timing source to be usedduring dial backup.• DBM Configuration Options (Table 6-9); for theDBM, DBM-V, DBM-S, DBM-D, or other externaldial backup unit (DBU) connected to the switchedaggregate port:– Rate(Kbps) (DBM Rate) must be set to the samerate as the DSU rate.– Diag Type (Diagnostic Type – Diagnostic DBMOptions) must be set to None or Disr.To establish aggregate switching dial backup from theDCP, run backup from the control DSU and command theDBM-V, DBM-S, or DBM-D to dial and go into Dialmode. From the 6800 Series NMS, use the StandbyFacility (sf) and Dial commands. The 6700 Series NMSsoftware provides a Commands pull-down window toaccess Standby Facility. Aggregate switching can also becontrolled automatically, enabling the Answer ExternalBackup (AnswExtBU) configuration option.Refer to Figure 1-6 for a sample aggregate switchedbackup for a point-to-point configuration. The controlDSU is configured so that AggrSwitch is enabled andAgSw Timing is set to Aggr. In this example, the DSUtakes its timing from the Switched 56 DBM when in DialBackup mode.Multipoint ConfigurationTo set up aggregate switching for a multipointconfiguration, enable the following configuration options:• DSU Configuration Options (Table 6-5):– AggrSwitch (Aggregate Switch) must beenabled.– AgSw Timing (Aggregate Switch Timing) mustbe set to the appropriate timing source to be usedduring dial backup.• DBM-V, DBM-S, DBM-D, or other external DBMConfiguration Options (Table 6-9):– Rate(Kbps) (DBM Rate) must be set to the samerate as the DSU rate (no rate adaption).– Diag Type (Diagnostic Type – Diagnostic DBMOptions) must be set to None or Disr.Figure 1-6.
