A filter is like an assistant that takes your mail and sorts or files itas you have specified.Filters are primarily used to do two things:n To select which messages to retrieve from the servern To move messages into mailboxes automaticallyYou can create as many filters as you like and give each of them up to fivecriteria for sorting and filing your mail. For example, you could create a filterto file all incoming messages with the word “Investment” in the Subject lineinto a specific mailbox.Creating a FilterTo create a filter:1. With the pdQmail application open, tap to open the pdQmail menus.2. From the Options menu, tap Filters.3. Select which messages should be retrieved from the server.n If you plan to retrieve most of your mail on your pdQ smartphone,check the Retrieve all except skipped box. When you check this box,all of your messages are sent to the pdQ smartphone except those youhave filtered, which are not retrieved.n If you are planning to use filters to retrieve only a few messages, suchas high-priority messages, check the Retrieve only filtered box. Whenyou check this box, none of your messages are retrieved except thoseyou have filtered, which are retrieved.See “Filter Actions” on page 122 for more information.Note: In the Order field, tap the or to move the currently selectedfilter up or down in the list. When mail is retrieved, filters areexecuted from top to bottom unless the “Skip Rest” action isencountered in one of the filters.4. To create a filter, tap New.
