3 ADJUSTMENTSGB-103.5 CUTTING HEIGHT _________________________________________________________Cutting height for decks can be adjusted from 1 to 5-1/2in. (25-125 mm) in 1/2 in. (13 mm) increments. Actualcutting height may vary somewhat from the heights givendepending on turf conditions and other factors.Note: When cutting undulating areas, lower cuttingheights may cause scalping. Adjust height accordingly toprevent turf damage.1. Park the tractor on a flat, level surface. Raise thedecks until the caster wheels are raised off theground enough so caster wheels can be removedfrom deck. Place blocks under decks so they aresupported on all sides. To remove inside, front caster from side decks raisethe decks to their full upright position and lock in thetransport position.2. Figure 3E shows the height adjustment decal for thecasters.Column 1 - Height of cutColumn 2 - Mount LocationColumn 3 - Arrangement of spacersAdjust spacers in quantity listed. Store extra spacerson top of spindle. If necessary, reposition wheelmount in holes indicated for height of cut.IMPORTANT: Do not reposition the thin thrustwashers (1/16”) and leveling washers (1/8”) on thespindle. These washers should remain in the sameposition and quantity they were originally installed. They need only be repositioned if needed to levelnew casters or decks, Section 3.23. To adjust rear gauge wheels on front deck refer toFigure 3F. Raise front deck approximately 12” andsupport underneath with blocks. Lower deck so it iscompletely resting on blocks4. Remove pin from rear gauge wheel yoke andreposition in bracket for desired height of cut. Whensetting cutting height at 5-1/2”, gauge wheel mustbe repositioned in arm. Follow wheel mountinginstructions on decal, Figure 3F.Figure 3EFigure 3FTire pressureCheck air pressure in caster tires, while tires are cool.Maintain air pressure between 20-25 psi (138-173 kPa)to improve accuracy of cutting height.Note: It is important to keep inflation pressures on allcaster and gauge tires equal, within the range specified,to ensure an accurate, level cut.WARNINGTo prevent serious injury, lower deck until it isresting completely on the supports. This willprevent it from accidentally lowering while makingadjustments. Disengage all drives, engageparking brake, stop engine and remove ignitionkey.!UpperMountLowerSpacersUnderMountMiddleThrustWasher &LevelingWasherNever reposition the thrust washer(s) (1/16" thick)and leveling washer(s) (1/8" thick)when setting cut heightCut Mount No. of SpacersHeight Location Under Mount1 1/2 Lower 12 Lower 22 1/2 Lower 32 1/2 Middle 03 Middle 13 1/2 Middle 24 Middle 34 Upper 04 1/2 Upper 15 Upper 25 1/2 Upper 3B C D EAF R1 2 3 45 6 7 8ArmBracketWheelMountingCut Bracket Arm WheelHeight Hole Hole Mounting1 3 A F1 1/2 1 B F2 2 C F2 1/2 3 D F3 4 E F3 1/2 5 B F4 6 C F4 1/2 7 D F5 8 E F5 1/2 8 E RWheel Mounting Instruction1 While rotating wheel, tightennut until wheel is difficult torotate.2 Loosen nut 1/4 turn or justuntil wheel rotates freely.3 lock nut into place usingsecond nut.
