MAINTENANCE 4GB-234.16 RADIATOR & OIL COOLER __________________________________________________Check coolant level daily. Radiator should be full andrecovery bottle should be up to the cold mark.If you have to add coolant more than once a month, oradd more than one quart at a time, have a Textron TurfCare And Specialty Products Dealer check the coolingsystem.Drain and refill annually. Remove the radiator cap, openthe engine block drain and the radiator drain. Empty andclean the recovery bottle.Mix clean water with ethylene glycol based anti-freeze forthe coldest ambient temperature. Read and follow theinstructions on the anti-freeze container and enginemanual.Keep screen, oil cooler and radiator air passages clean.Use compressed air (30 psi maximum) to clean the fins.Front ScreenInspect front screen (B) daily and clean as required toremove grass clippings, leaves and other debris that mayrestrict air flow through oil cooler and radiator.To remove screen, remove end cap (A) from left side ofoil cooler. Slide screen out from side and blow out fromback side using compressed air.Oil Cooler and RadiatorInspect oil cooler and radiator daily and clean as requiredto maintain good air flow.1. Remove screen (B) from front of oil cooler.2. Unfasten knobs (C) located on top of oil coolerand remove plastic shield from front of oil cooler.3. Release prop rod (D) at bottom of cooler andposition hydraulic line to the front of it so hose canmove freely. Swing cooler up and away from radiatoras shown (E). Insert prop rod into hole in frame tohold oil cooler in its service position.4. Use a blow gun to clean the radiator and oil coolerfins.5. After cleaning, swing cooler back in place in front ofradiator. Secure prop rod (D) down so it holdshydraulic line running behind it in place.6. Replace front screen and shields, and install knobson top of oil cooler to secure assembly in place.Figure 4FWARNINGTo prevent serious bodily injury from hot coolant orsteam blow-out, never attempt to remove the radiatorcap while the engine is running. Stop the engine andwait until it is cool. Even then, use extreme care whenremoving the cap.CAUTIONDo not pour cold water into a hot radiator. Do not operateengine without a proper coolant mixture.
