Chapter 8: Security Management145Encryption & ShareUsing the Encryption & Share settings you can specify the type ofencryption used, PC and VM share modes, and the type of resetperformed when the KX II-101-V2 Reset button is pressed.WARNING: If you select an encryption mode that is not supported byyour browser, you will not be able to access the KX II-101-V2 fromyour browser.To configure encryption and share:1. Choose one of the options from the Encryption Mode drop-down list.When an encryption mode is selected, a warning appears, statingthat if your browser does not support the selected mode, you will notbe able to connect to the KX II-101-V2. The warning states "Whenthe Encryption Mode is specified please ensure that your browsersupports this encryption mode; otherwise you will not be able toconnect to the KX II-101-V2."Encryption mode DescriptionAuto This is the recommended option. The KX II-101-V2 autonegotiates to the highest level ofencryption possible.You must select Auto in order for the deviceand client to successfully negotiate the use ofFIPS compliant algorithms.RC4 Secures user names, passwords and KVMdata, including video transmissions using theRSA RC4 encryption method. This is a 128-bit Secure Sockets Layer (SSL) protocol thatprovides a private communications channelbetween the KX II-101-V2 device and theRemote PC during initial connectionauthentication.If you enable FIPS 140-2 mode and RC4 hasbeen selected, you will receive an errormessage. RC4 is not available while in FIPS140-2 mode.AES-128 The Advanced Encryption Standard (AES) isa National Institute of Standards andTechnology specification for the encryption ofelectronic data. 128 is the key length. WhenAES-128 is specified, be certain that yourbrowser supports it, otherwise you will not beable to connect. See Checking YourBrowser for AES Encryption (on page 147)
