DoNOT install in a hazardous/flammableatmosphere (such as in an engine roomor near fuel tanks).General location requirementsWhen selecting a location for your product it isimportant to consider a number of factors.Key factors which can affect product performanceare:• VentilationTo ensure adequate airflow:– Ensure that product is mounted in acompartment of suitable size.– Ensure that ventilation holes are not obstructed.Allow adequate separation of all equipment.Any specific requirements for each systemcomponent are provided later in this chapter.• Mounting surfaceEnsure product is adequately supported on asecure surface. Do not mount units or cut holesin places which may damage the structure of thevessel.• CablingEnsure the product is mounted in a location whichallows proper routing, support and connection ofcables:– Minimum bend radius of 100 mm (3.94 in)unless otherwise stated.– Use cable clips to prevent stress on connectors.– If your installation requires multiple ferrites tobe added to a cable then additional cable clipsshould be used to ensure the extra weight ofthe cable is supported.• Water ingressThe product is suitable for mounting both aboveand below decks. Although the unit is waterproof,it is good practice to locate it in a protected areaaway from prolonged and direct exposure to rainand salt spray.• Electrical interferenceSelect a location that is far enough away fromdevices that may cause interference, such asmotors, generators and radio transmitters /receivers.• Power supplySelect a location that is as close as possible to thevessel’s DC power source.
