28 EB 8823 ENMounting and start-upPremature wear and leakage due to insuffi-cient support or suspension.Attach a suitable support or suspension onthe valve, if necessary.Vent plugsVent plugs are screwed into the exhaust airports of pneumatic, electropneumatic andelectric devices. They ensure that any ex-haust air that forms can be vented to the at-mosphere (to avoid excess pressure in thedevice). Furthermore, the vent plugs allowair intake to prevent a vacuum from formingin the device.Î Locate the vent plug on the opposite sideto the workplace of operating personnel.Î On mounting valve accessories, makesure that they can be operated from theworkplace of the operating personnel. The workplace of operating personnel is thelocation from which the valve, actuator andany mounted valve accessories can be ac-cessed to operate them.5.2.2 Additional fittingsStrainerFor certain applications an additional strain-er can be installed in order to reduce exces-sive wear.InsulationDo not insulate valves mounted to complywith NACE MR 0175 requirements.Contact SAMSON’s After-sales Service de-partment in case that an insulation is re-quired.5.2.3 Installing the controlvalveVersion with flanges1. Depressurize the plant and interrupt themedium flow while the valve is being in-stalled.2. Remove the protective caps from thevalve ports before installing the valve.3. Lift the valve using suitable lifting equip-ment to the site of installation (see sec-tion 4.2.2). Observe the flow directionthrough the valve. The arrow on thevalve indicates the direction of flow.4. Make sure that the correct flange gasketsare used.5. Bolt the pipe to the valve free of stress.6. Depending on the field of application, allow the valve to cool down or heat upto reach ambient temperature beforestart up.7. Slowly resume medium flow in the pipe-line after the valve has been installed.NOTICE!NoteNote
