30 EB 8823 ENOperation6 OperationImmediately after completing mounting andstart-up (see section 5), the valve is ready foruse.Crush hazard arising from moving parts (ac-tuator and plug stem).Do not insert hands or finger into the yokewhile the valve is in operation.Risk of personal injury when the actuatorvents.Wear eye protection when working in closeproximity to the control valve.Risk of personal injury due to sudden escapeof process medium. The valve has a safety bleed to detect dam-aged or worn O-rings. The process mediummay escape suddenly and at high pressure.− Wear protective clothing, gloves and eye-wear when working near or on the valve.− Do not stay in the range of the safety bleedlonger than necessary.Operating disturbed by a blocked actuatorand plug stem.Do not impede the movement of the actuatoror plug stem by inserting objects into theirpath.6.1 Reversing the flowdirectionThe medium flows through the valve in thedirection indicated by the arrow. The stan-dard valve body version normally operatesin the flow-to-open direction (FTO). The me-dium flows across the plug from bottom totop. The compact valve body versions nor-mally operate in the flow-to-close direction(FTC). The medium flows across the plugfrom top to bottom. The flow direction can be reversed from FTOto FTC and vice versa.Risk of valve damage due to altered forces. When reversing the flow direction, alteredforces occur which may damage the valve ifincorrectly calculated. To reverse the flow direction, contactSAMSON’s After-sales Service department.WARNING!WARNING!WARNING!NOTICE!NOTICE!
