EB 8823 EN 29Mounting and start-upRisk of valve damage due to a sudden pres-sure increase and resulting high flow veloci-ties.Slowly resume medium flow during start-up.8. Check the valve to ensure it functionsproperly.Version with threaded ends1. Proceed as described for Version withflanges (steps 1 to 3).2. Screw the valve onto the pipeline. Installan appropriate sealing. Make sure thatthe valve is free of stress.T-pattern: Screw the screw plug into thedesired outlet. The screw plug, too, needsto be installed with an appropriate seal-ing.3. Proceed as described for Version withflanges (steps 6 to 8).5.3 Quick checkSAMSON valves are delivered ready foruse. To test the valve’s ability to function, thefollowing quick checks can be performed:Tight shut-off1. Close the valve.2. Slowly resume medium flow in the pipe-line.Risk of valve damage due to a sudden pres-sure increase and resulting high flow veloci-ties.Slowly resume medium flow during start-up.3. Check the valve for leakage to the atmo-sphere (visual inspection).Travel motionThe movement of the actuator stem must belinear and smooth.Î Open and close the valve, observing themovement of the actuator stem.Î Apply the maximum and minimum con-trol signals to check the end positions ofthe valve.Î Check the travel reading at the travel in-dicator scale.Fail-safe positionÎ Shut off the signal pressure line.Î Check whether the valve moves to thefail-safe position.Pressure testingWhen pressure testing make sure that the fol-lowing conditions are met:− Retract the plug to open the valve.− Observe the maximum permissible pres-sure for both the valve and plant. The plant operator is responsible for pressuretesting. SAMSON’s After-sales Service de-partment can support you in planning andimplementing the pressure test for your plant.NOTICE!NOTICE!Note
