Selectable optionsThese instructions assume that you have followed the steps on page 2.41under ‘Setting an option’ and that the machine is prompting you to changeone of the options listed here.• PAPER SIZE—Select the paper size you will use for the recording paper.Press 1 for letter (LTR), 2 for A4 size, or 3 to use legal (LGL) size paper.• MESSAGE CONF.—A message confirmation report shows whether thetransmission was successful or not, how many pages were sent, etc.Press 1 to print a confirmation report automatically each time you send afax (ON).Press 2 to turn this feature off (OFF).Press 3 to print only when an error occurs and the transmission was notsuccessful (ERR).• AUTO JOURNAL—A journal shows specific information concerningtransmission or reception activities, the time and dates of up to 50 of themost recent transmissions or receptions.Press 1 to print journal automatically after every 50 transmissions orreceptions (ON).Press 2 to print journal manually (OFF).• REMOTE CODE—The remote receive start code allows you to initiatefax reception from an extension phone plugged into the TEL jack on theback of your machine. If you pick up the extension phone and hear faxtones, enter the remote code and the machine will start receiving. Thepassword is preset to 9 at factory.Enter the desired code 0 to 9 on the number keypad.• POWER SAVE —The power saving menu item lets you reduce powerusage when the printer is idle.Press 1 to turn the feature ON. The display asks you to determine thelength of time the printer waits after a job is printed before it goes to areduced power state:Press 1 for 5 minutes, 2 for 10 minutes, 3 for 15 minutes, 4 for 30 minutes,or 5 for 45 minutes.If your printer is used constantly, press 2 to turn the feature OFF.
