It is harmful to eyes.In the document feederUsing the document feeder, you can load up to 40 sheets of paper (75 g/m2,20 lb bond) for one job.1. Flex or fan the edge of the paper stack to separate the pages beforeloading originals.2. Load the original face up into the document feeder. Make sure that thebottom of the original stack matches the paper size marked on thedocument input tray.3. Adjust the document feeder width guides to the paper size.Dust on the document feeder glass may cause black lines on theprintout. Always keep the glass clean (See "Cleaning the scanunit" on page 89).SELECTING PRINT MEDIAYou can print on a variety of print media, such as plain paper, envelopes,labels, and transparencies. Always use print media that meet the guidelinesfor use with your machine.Guidelines to select the print mediaPrint media that does not meet the guidelines outlined in this user’s guidemay cause the following problems:• Poor print quality• Increased paper jams• Premature wear on the machine.Properties, such as weight, composition, grain, and moisture content, areimportant factors that affect the machine’s performance and the outputquality. When you choose print materials, consider the following:• The type, size and weight of the print media for your machine aredescribed in print media specifications (See "Print media specifications"on page 111).• Desired outcome: The print media you choose should be appropriate foryour project.• Brightness: Some print media are whiter than others and producesharper, more vibrant images.• Surface smoothness: The smoothness of the print media affects howcrisp the printing looks on the paper.• Some print media may meet all of the guidelines in this section andstill not produce satisfactory results. This may be the result ofimproper handling, unacceptable temperature and humidity levels,or other variables over which cannot be controled.• Before purchasing large quantities of print media, ensure that itmeets the requirements specified in this user’s guide.Using print media that does not meet these specifications may causeproblems, requiring repairs.
