Contacts and Your Address Book 55Marking a Contact as DefaultWhen you use applications such as the Voice Dialer or othermessaging type applications, the application needs to know whichinformation is primary (default) in a contact entry list. For example,when you say “Call John Smith”, if you have three phone recordsfor John Smith, the Voice dialer looks for the “default” number orentry.1. From the Home screen, tap Contacts .2. Tap a Contact name.3. Press Mark as default. The Mark as default screendisplays radio buttons next to the various phone numbers,email addresses, etc. for the contact.4. For each type of information, tap the radio button next to theentry you want to be the primary information and selectSave.Synchronizing AccountsSyncing data from your managed accounts allows you to managenew and existing contact information between your online orremote accounts and your phone. Prior to syncing, you must firsthave an active Google or Microsoft Exchange account, currentContact entries, and be signed into your account via the phone.With syncing, any Contacts entries (with phone numbers, emailaddresses, pictures, etc.) are updated and synced between theaccount and your phone. For more information, refer to “Accountsand Sync” on page 107.1. From the Home screen, From the Home screen, tap Settings Accounts and sync.2. Locate the email account containing the contacts you wishto synchronize and tap the account name to reveal theaccount’s synchronization settings screen.3. To synchronize Contacts, tap Sync Contacts. A greencheckmark indicates the feature is enabled.Note: The process of updating your Contacts can take several minutes. If after10-20 minutes, your list has not been updated, repeat step 2-3.Your Contacts tab then reflects any updated Contact information.Note: Syncing of contacts requires you are logged into your Gmail andCorporate accounts via the device.Address Book OptionsYou can access Address Book options while at the main AddressBook page or while in the details page for a specific entry.
