54 Wi‑Fi SettingsSettingsWi‑Fi is a term used for certaintypes of Wireless Local AreaNetworks (WLAN). Wi‑Ficommunication requires accessto a Wireless Access Point(WAP).Wi‑Fi Direct creates a directconnection between two ormore devices using Wi‑Fi.Turn Wi-Fi On or OffTurning Wi-Fi on makes your device able to discoverand connect to compatible in-range WAPs.1. From a Home screen, tap Apps >Settings.2. Tap Wi-Fi, and then tap ON/OFF to turn Wi-Fi onor off.Wi-Fi Status IndicatorsStatus bar icons show your current Wi-Fi connectionstatus:• When Wi-Fi is connected, active, andcommunicating with a Wireless Access Point(WAP), displays.• If a Wi-Fi access point is available, but your deviceis not connected to it, displays. It may alsodisplay if there is a communication issue with thetarget Wireless Access Point (WAP).Scan and Connect to a Wi-FiNetwork1. From a Home screen, tap Apps >Settings.2. Tap Wi-Fi, and then tap ON/OFF to turn Wi-Fion. When Wi-Fi is turned on, your deviceautomatically scans for available networks anddisplays them.3. Tap the network you want to connect to.When you select an open network, you areautomatically connected to the network.Otherwise, enter a password to connect.Manually Connect to aWi-Fi Network1. From a Home screen, tap Apps >Settings.2. Tap Wi-Fi, and then tap ON/OFF to turn Wi-Fi on.3. Tap MORE > Add network.4. Enter information about the Wi-Fi network:• Enter network name: Enter the name of theWi-Fi network.• Security: Select a security option and enteryour password.• Show advanced options: Tap if you need toadd advanced options such as IP settings andProxy settings.5.
