16 T2020 Operator's ManualEmergency Operation (Selcall Option Fitted)To utilise the emergency capability of the T2020, the radio must be fitted with Selcallselective tone calling and be connected to a hidden emergency switch. (The key onthe front panel may also be programmed to initiate the emergency state.)1 To send an emergency call, operate the hidden switch. This will cause no changein the front panel indications of the T2020, but the radio will send a Selcallemergency code to a preprogrammed party (usually your base or despatcher) everyfew seconds until it receives an acknowledging Selcall code.Note: The emergency cycling option is controlled at the time of programming. Ifemergency cycling is disabled then the emergency sequence is sent only onceand no Tx/Rx cycling occurs.2 The radio will then adopt a transmit/receive cycle which allows the base ordespatcher to monitor activity in the vicinity of the radio.3 The radio may be removed from this mode either by receiving a reset code from thebase or despatcher during one of its receive periods, or by turning the radio off andback on without the emergency switch operated.To Alter User OptionsWhilst most of the features available on the T2020 radio are able to be customised withthe Tait programming software, some may be directly accessible to you, to alter accordingto your own requirements.
