Consult your Tait dealer to see if this applies to your radio.alerting tone, beep . beep . beep, as soon as the channel becomes free.2 Lift the microphone off its hook and listen to check that no-one else is using thechannel. Depending upon the options fitted to your radio, you may also have topress the key briefly . If you attempt to transmit while the channel is in use,1you will hear a warning tone, boop, from the speaker and the "WAIT" indicator willappear in the display. When the channel becomes free again, the radio will soundan alerting tone, beep . beep . beep.3 Hold the microphone about 5cm from your mouth and squeeze the Press-To-Talk(PTT) switch on the side of the microphone. Speak clearly into the microphone,identifying yourself and the person you wish to contact by your call signs (forexample - "Mobile-9 to Base"). Release the PTT switch when you have finishedtalking.4 The radio is fitted with a timer to limit the maximum length of transmissions. Theradio will sound a warning, beep .. beep .. beep, before it stops transmitting.5 Your radio may be fitted with the ability to hush (mute) another device such as a carstereo so that your speech is clearly audible to other users when you transmit a call.Consult your Tait dealer to see if this facility is active on your radio.Economiser Mode1 The T2020 incorporates an economiser mode which turns off some internal circuitryand dims the back-lighting for the front panel to conserve battery power. This willoccur after a pre-determined period of inactivity.2 Operating any of the front panel controls or the PTT switch restores the radio to fullactivity immediately.3 If the radio receives a call for you, it will also restore itself to full activityimmediately.
