Operating in conventional mode 55Making a callThe radio’s behavior when making a call changesdepending on the type of channel selected.Channels can be programmed for:■ DMR calls over a DMR network■ DMR calls between radios■ analog calls between radiosIf you are on a channel programmed for calls over theDMR network, the green LED indicates whether thenetwork is active. By default, the network is inactive(green LED is off).Initiating a call will activate the network which willremain active for a programmed time. While thenetwork is active (green LED glows), you cancomplete the call and start a new call.If you are on a channel programmed for DMR oranalog calls between radios (without a radio network),the green LED indicates activity on the channel, i.e.whether someone is talking. For all DMR calls (over the network or radio to radio),you may hear a go-ahead double-beep after pressingthe PTT key (if programmed). The radio may be programmed to ring or beep when anew DMR call is received.DMR calls have an inactivity timeout. If a pause in theconversation exceeds the timeout, the next press ofthe PTT key will establish a new call.
