Chapter 3: Printer Menus and the Control Panel 3–81Config Menu⇒ Twinax/CoaxEPCThe Early Print Complete parameter allows you to set up the printer data buffer-ing scheme to emulate the 4234 data-handling characteristics. When this param-eter is set to Off (the default), the printer emulates the buffering scheme of theIBM 4234 printer, which results in standard IBM 4234 error handling. Theprinter notifies the host after it is finished processing the print buffer and is readyto accept more data. Then the host sends another buffer of up to 4K of data. This processing mode causes short pauses during the printing process due to thewait between notifying the host and the host sending the next buffer. When this parameter is set to On, the printer notifies the host before it is finishedprocessing the print buffer. This allows faster processing because the text buffer issent by the host before the current buffer is fully processed and there is no delaybetween processing one buffer and the next buffer. This processing mode speedsup data handling but may result in slightly different error handling.GrAVM (Graphics AVM)The Graphics AVM panel menu setup option only applies to the manner in whichthe Twinax AVM command is handled within a Code V, PGL, or Hex Pass-Through graphics job.A Tx/Cx Absolute Vertical Move (AVM) command moves the current printpoition vertically (forward only) to a line number specified by the commandwithout changing the horizontal print position. When the line number is less thanthe current line position the line is moved to the appropriate line position on thenext page. When the line number is greater than the number of lines in the page(form length) an invalid range parameter errors. TallyGenicom provides tworesponses to the AVM command.Style 1: The print position moves forward, relative to the last text item or paper-move command that preceded the AVM command. The new line positionis calculated by subtracting the height (in lines) of any graphic itemspreceding the AVM, from the line number specified in the AVM com-mand. This style is intended for compatibility with printers that use anexternal or non-integrated Twinax interface. This is the default setting.Style 2: The print position moves forward to the exact line number specified bythe AVM command. The presence or absence of graphic items precedingthe AVM does not affect the position of text and/or graphics following theAVM.
