There is about asecond’s interval between the post-roll and therestarting of the rehearsal at the pre-roll point. Youcannot change this interval.Recording the punchWhen you are happy with the rehearsed punch mate-rial, you record the punch in the following way:1 Press the RHSL key so that the indicator goesout.2 Press and hold the RECORD key and press thePLAY key.• The display shows TAKE.• Playback starts at the pre-roll point. Boththe input source and previously-recordedmaterial can be monitored.• When playback reaches the punch-in point,the monitored signal on the armed track(s)is muted. The RECORD indicator lightssteadily.• When playback reaches the punch-outpoint, the recorded material is added to themonitored signal. The RECORD indicatorgoes out.• Playback continues to the punch-out pointand stops.If the REPEAT indicator is lit, the punch recordingwill continue to repeat (up to 99 times) until youpress STOP, allowing you to select from a list of“multi-takes” (see “Checking the take” on page 48).The time between repeat takes is about one second.You cannot change this time.Checking the takeAfter a take or series of takes has completed, you canmake an instant check of the take by following theprocedure here.• When the take is complete, a screen similarto the following appears:• The screen above shows three takes and theoriginal track.• Use the wheel to highlight a take from thelist, including the original track before thepunch was started.• Press PLAY to check the highlighted take byplaying it back (starting at the pre-roll point,and continuing to the post-roll point).• If you are happy with the take, you can moveto the next stage below (“After finishing thepunch” on page 48.• If you want to record another take, pressand hold RECORD, and press PLAY.After finishing the punchWhen you have finished the punch recording:1 Use the wheel to highlight the take which youfeel is the best (or if none of them was anygood, select ORIGINAL, which is the unchangedversion).2 Press to select the selected take (or the originalversion).A pop-up display asks you if you are sure thatyou want to use the take.3 Press ENTER if you are sure, but if you changeyour mind to select another take, press EXIT.NOTEYou must select one of the takes or the original to exitauto punch mode.
