TASCAM BB-1000CD 356–ConnectionConnecting monitorsYou can connect headphones to the PHONES jack (stereomini jack) and an external audio device (powered speak-ers, audio system, etc) to the LINE OUT jack (RCA jack) formonitoring.NOTESlide the SPEAKER switch to OFF to deactivate the built-in speak-ers. The built-in speakers are automatically deactivated as head-phones are connected to the PHONES jack regardless of the switch'sposition.CAUTIONThe sound through microphones (both built-in and external) doesnot come out of the built-in speakers. Use headphones when youwant to monitor it.Connecting external microphones and an audiodeviceThe unit can record sounds from external audio equipmentas well as the built-in stereo microphones and you canrecord sounds using them. You can connect the equipmentto the LINE IN jack and the external microphone jacks. Seebelow how to connect them (For settings of the connectionsand input level, see “8-Recording”).Connecting to the EXT MIC jacksYou can connect microphones to the EXT MIC A (L) andEXT MIC B (R) jacks (XLR jacks) on the left side of the unit.CAUTIONSlide the PHANTOM switch to ON after connecting microphones•which need power supply, such as condenser microphones. Turnthe switch off when using other types of microphones, such asdynamic ones. Otherwise the microphones may be damaged.Refer to the manual of the microphones for details.Do not connect/disconnect a microphone when the PHANTOM•switch is ON.Connecting to the LINE IN jackYou can connect the line output of an audio device to theLINE IN jack (RCA jack).Powered speakers,stereo system, etc.HeadphonesMicrophonesAudio device orexternal soundsource
