See“Using the RS-232C connector” on page 45 for details.Setting the common output signalSet the signal output from the TAPE COMMON OUTPUTjacks according to your operating needs for this unit.1 When in standard display mode, press the MENUkey on the main unit or the remote control to entermenu mode.2 Use the –/+ keys on the main unit or the remote con-trol to show the COMMON OUT? item on the maindisplay, and press the ENTER key on the main unitor the remote control.3 Use the –/+ keys on the main unit or the remote con-trol to select one of the following choices.TAPE: This always outputs the tape playback signal.AUTO (default value): outputs either the CD or thetape playback signal. When both are playing at the sametime, only the tape signal is output.MIX: Outputs both the CD and tape playback signals,mixing them when they are playing simultaneously.4 Press the ENTER key to return to the standard dis-play.If you want to output the CD and tape signals to•different devices (or different channels of a mixer,for example), set the COMMON OUT item to “TAPE.”By doing so, the CD signal will be output from the CDOUTPUT jacks, while the tape signal will be outputfrom the TAPE COMMON OUTPUT jacks.If you’re outputting the signal of this unit to one ex-•ternal device, such as an amplifier, set the COMMONOUT item to “AUTO” or “MIX.” By doing so, this unitoutputs the signal of the CD and/or the tape depend-ing on their playback status.Preparing the remote controlInstalling the batteries1 Open the cover on the back.2 Insert two AA batteries, paying careful attention totheir +/– orientation.3 Close the cover.The batteries are not supplied for Taiwan.When to change the batteriesIf the remote control operating distance becomes shortor functions do not respond when their keys are pressed,replace both batteries with new ones at the same time.Precautions for the use of batteriesMisuse of batteries can cause them to leak or rupture, forexample.
