30• Channel count – How many channels are currently beingstreamed to and from the mixer. This can be changed onlyfrom the mixer’s LCD screen. (Note): The numbers hereare relative to the computer. If the driver is Unlocked, additional information is displayed here about the state ofthe individual streams of FireWire data. All streams mustbe locked for audio to be sent.• Audio Dropouts – displays how many buffers have beenlost so far since locking. This should be a small number, asit is normal for the driver to lose a few buffers when itinitially connects and negotiates the correct speed. Checkthis before and after a recording or mixdown to see if yourcomputer was able to keep up throughout. If this number isincreasing each time you check, your computer is notproviding data fast enough – try reducing channel count orother CPU load.Configuration PanelThis shows the following information about the “far end” of theconnection.• Firmware version – The version of the IF-FW/ DM MK II’sinternal firmware.• Device – the type of the connected device, e.g. DM-3200 orDM-4800.Settings PanelThe settings panel has the following parameters.• Buffer size in samples – This sets the overall latency andCPU load of the drivers. Smaller numbers will reducelatency (audio delay) but increase system load. Do not setthis value smaller than the value shown below.• Minimum Buffer size – This shows the minimum buffersize that the driver can process on your computer at thecurrent FS. Setting the buffer size smaller than this valuewill result in no audio, or distorted audio, you must choosea buffer size larger than this value.
