Allow all of the water to drain from the bowl, thenretighten the valve to close it.Fuel FilterThe fuel filter should be changed every 500 servicehours, or as needed. A plugged fuel filter can causeloss of engine power, rough running, or no start.Collect and contain liquids in a suitable contain-er. Dispose of all liquids according to local regula-tions and mandates.Fuel Filter Change ProceduresFigure 16-51. Clean the outside of the filter thoroughly.2. Remove the bolt on the top of the assembly, then slide the filter and retainer down and off ofthe assembly.3. Install the new filter by reversing step 2.4. A poorly maintainedair cleaner can seriously shorten the life of the en-gine.Air Filter Change ProceduresNOTICEWhen working in dusty conditions, the air cleaner ele-ments should be checked and changed more frequentlythan when working under normal conditions.NOTICEDo not clean the primary air cleaner element by bumpingand tapping. This could damage the seals. Do not useelements with damaged pleat gaskets or seals.1. Open the hood, release the latches on eitherside of the air cleaner, and then remove thecover.Figure 16-62.
