Connect the cable to the service tool and secure the fixingscrews.If using the EOBD (J1962) pin-switchable cable (A2C59512073), ensure the settingson the switch box correspond to the settings listed for the vehicle and system beingtested.WARNING: Incorrect settings on the switch box may cause irreparable damage tothe vehicle's electrical system.Ensure the vehicle's ignition is OFF.Connect the service tool to the required vehicle connector, refer to ‘Diagnosticconnector locations’, page 57, for further information.Important informationMercedes vehicles with Sensotronic Brake Control• Ensure that you are fully familiar with the braking system and its operation beforecommencing any work.• The Sensotronic Brake Control system must be deactivated before carrying out anymaintenance/diagnostic work on the brake system. This can be done from theservice tool menu.• Only commence work after the system has been deactivated. Upon deactivation, awarning message should appear in the instrument panel and maybe accompaniedby an audible warning signal until the system is reactivated.
